Drug And Alcohol Intervention Strategies: For An Alcoholism Intervention

Crisis Intervention: When You Can’t Take It Anymore

It’s the third time this week that the cops have brought home your drunken spouse or that the bar has called and asked you to pick them up. You have to wake up your kids, put them in their car seats and drive to pick up your husband. You’re done. You’re done with your sloppy, drunken spouse tripping over himself because he’s so wasted. You need a crisis intervention because you cannot do it one more day.

An Alcoholism Intervention Is The Best Way To Get An Alcoholic To Face The Music

Alcoholism is a serious disease. Most of the time an alcoholic is in denial about their abuse problem. Other times they know they have a problem but can’t stop on their own. Whatever the reason if they aren’t listening to simple reason who they aren’t trying to change on their own then you need to put together an alcoholism intervention and get them to realize they have a problem. Sometimes it does take a room full of people telling the addict we all think you’re an addict for them to seek help.

What Are The Benefits Of Drug And Alcohol Intervention Strategies?

An interventionist really needs to know what they are dealing with when helping stage an intervention. No two addicts are the same. The need to know if they are dealing with someone who is manipulative, in complete denial, aggressive, angry, hostile, paranoid or passive aggressive. Once they know the personality and addiction type then they can come up with some drug and alcohol intervention strategies. They need to be prepared for whatever the addict throws at them. If they aren’t prepared then they aren’t going to be able dismiss the addict’s attempts to avoid rehab.
