Intervention

An intervention is a planned out process that involves 2 or more parties: the individual who needs intervening, and those who do the intervening. Family members and/or close friends tend to initiate the intervention process out of fear and concern. One option that many families and friends choose to make use of is professional intervention services. Working with a professional interventionist can be extremely advantageous. He or she will facilitate the intervention, creating a balance between the onslaught of emotion from family and friends, and structured guidance. An alcoholism intervention is a process geared towards assisting an alcoholic acknowledge his or her alcohol problem, and begin to process of recovery. Achieving sobriety is not an easy task for an alcoholic. The intervention is only the first step. However, family and friends who stage an intervention are clearly in support of the individuals’ recovery, and will be there through the treatment process as a support network.
