Intervention Services: When Pretreatment Interventions Are Necessary |
It’s A Good Idea To Meet With Intervention Services Before An Intervention Sometimes you only get one shot at an intervention. You do not want to walk in their blind. With the help of intervention services they can assist you in planning the intervention. They will want to meet with you and a few members of your family or friends that know the addict. They need to hear your stories about the addict’s abuse behavior. It’s the best way for them to access the right method of attack when going into an intervention. An Interventionist Runs Pretreatment Interventions Pretreatment interventions are when the interventionist meets with the family and friends of addicts to get as much information about the addict prior to having the intervention. It’s important to know what level of abuse the interventionist is going up against. If it’s alcohol it’s one thing, if it’s a heroin or cocaine problem that’s an entirely different kind of addiction. Sometimes until the substance is out of the addicts body you can’t even have a rational conversation with them because they are so doped up on drugs. They’re paranoid among other things. Don’t Stop Trying If An Intervention Doesn’t Work If an intervention doesn’t work don’t give up on the addict or on the possibility of them entering rehab at a later date. Sometimes an intervention is too much for an addict to handle. They need to process what everyone is saying before they can even think about entering rehab. If they run away, don’t worry they’ll eventually come back. You can’t give up just because your first time at bat you didn’t get them to jump into rehab. Addict’s are scared and usually living in deep denial. It takes them some time to process everything and realize they have a problem.
