Various Interventions: Drug Intervention, Alcoholism Intervention, and Crisis Interventions |
|
Drug Intervention One of the most common reasons why someone may need an intervention is drugs. Drugs are everywhere. Drugs are in the street, in our schools, in our homes, in the workplace, etc. Drug addiction is something we all wish to avoid in our lives. Nobody wants to become a drug addict, and nobody wants someone they love to become a drug addict. Unfortunately it happens to a lot of people. A drug intervention aims to encourage an individual suffering from drug addiction to get the help that they need. Family and friends should first research various treatment options, and then either work together, or work with a professional interventionist to develop a proper plan of action. When the drug intervention has been completed the ultimate goal is that the individual will be immediately placed in treatment. Alcoholism Intervention Another common reason for needing an intervention is alcohol. Alcoholism is all too common, and should be taken very seriously. An alcoholism intervention aims to guide an alcoholic into an alcohol recovery program. When staging an intervention it is extremely important for all who participate to remain extremely supportive and encouraging. An intervention will be much more successful if the individual does not feel attacked. They should instead feel like they have a wonderful support system that will be there to back them throughout their recovery. Crisis Intervention Another type of intervention is a crisis intervention. A crisis intervention addresses victims of traumatic events such as domestic abuse, sexual abuse, natural disaster, etc. Individuals who experience one or more of these events often suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. A crisis intervention aims to direct individuals suffering from PTSD into therapy or treatment. It is important that the crisis intervention happens soon after the event, or immediately after to increase the likelihood of recovery. |
